Good news in response to lobbying efforts by Bicycle Colorado and other mobility advocacy organizations in Colorado (including PaCMan), on October 12, 2026 Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser issued a “PUBLIC ADVISORY ON E-BIKES, E-SCOOTERS, LABELING REQUIREMENTS, AND PUBLIC SAFETY.”
The Attorney General intends to investigate and enforce against retailers who violate state laws governing the labeling, marketing, and sale of e-bikes. Consumers who encounter sellers that are engaged in the misleading or unlawful sale of e-bikes are encouraged to file a complaint with the Attorney General at StopFraudColoado.gov.
Law abiding E-Bike users wanting to get to work, school, or to just improve their mental health should be encouraged to do so. They should not be confused with users of high-power electric mobility devices, that in some cases are being operated recklessly and without consideration for the safety of others. This public advisory by the AG is a step in the right direction to clarify the discussion around the everchanging electric mobility device market.
Below is a copy of the letter sent by Bicycle Colorado on August 27,2026 to our Attorney General asking for enforcement of existing E-Bike and false marketing laws. PaCMan is a co-signer on this letter with other advocacy organizations across the state. Thank you to all who gave input and supported this topic.
